  The one star is for the costs only. It's affordable for sure. Your experience may largely depend on who you are roomed with but from what I've heard you'll be lucky if you get roommates there that are tidy and/or organised. Some of mine drove me crazy with their bad hygiene and messiness which student village did nothing about. My other roommate told me that her last roommates were much worse than the ones we had so that should give you a good picture. I find that they have WAY too many rules in student village when it comes to certain things. Some of the things they charge you for are ridiculous. If you forget your keys in your bedroom or something they charge you $55 just to get back inside and if you lose your keys for good you have to pay $300+ and just to have someone stay overnight you have to get a letter signed by every roommate in the house (which can be difficult because they can often be away or out at different times) to stay over AND pay a fee for them to sleep over. The parking there is terrible and people are always fighting for space. Recently they've said that if any visitors aren't in the parking space put there for visitors (which is fine if it's close to your house) then they will get the cars towed. I highly recommend checking if your room has a skyline above the bed too. One of my roommates has trouble sleeping in the morning because it's so bright and the village wouldn't let her do anything about it for "safety reasons". So if you like your sleep check that first. One bathroom is nice and has a bathtub but the other is absolutely tiny and has barely any space to move in the shower, and I'm a small person. There is only one semi small fridge for five people to share so all we got was one shelf to put all our stuff on each. They provide very little in the way of cooking. There isn't that much cutlery, plates or glasses provided and I think there was only one saucepan to share between everyone and no towels for wiping up dishes. They do have some cleaning supplies there like a mop and vacuum cleaner (which was crappy and hardly worked in my house). I've found that the administration office is really unhelpful with personal issues. If you go to them about a problem they will usually just tell you they will "see what they can do" and then never get back to you about it. I am not the only one who has experienced this as my other roommate was complaining about it too. Bu as soon as there is money involved they want to jump on anyone they can about it to charge people. The shops that are across the road are really small and you can only really get your basics from there (the only fruit they sold when I went were apples and bananas. They might have something else but there wasn't much. If you like anything in particular you may still have to bus it to somewhere better so don't move there just because there are shops close. It's not really worth it. Honestly the only good thing about the place is that it's not expensive, you don't have to pay for electricity, water or gas and it is really close to the university. I would rather go somewhere a bit more expensive than return to Student Village ever again.
